HISTORY<\/p>\n
It is the more ancient Brotherhood of which currently take part in the Jumilla’s processions. Its establishment, made by the Franciscan Father Lobo, could be situated between the years 1590 and 1614 as Brotherhood La Cruz, keeping alive the spirit of the Holy Week processions for more than 200 years. In the 18th century, the importance of the Brotherhood was reflected in the number of brothers who took part of it, considering that, in the last third of that century, it counted 2321 brothers.
\nIn 1859 merges the Brotherhood La Cruz and El Santo Sepulcro.
\nThe ancient statue of El Yacente, missing in 1936, it is said that its body was a work by S\u00e1nchez Araciel, and the head by Francisco Salzillo.
\nThe processions were recovered in 1940, so this Brotherhood goes back to leave with El Yacente from Santa Ana’s Monastery, doing it again in 1941. In the 1942’s Holy Week it is added the new statue, work by Mr. Jos\u00e9 Planes Pe\u00f1alver.<\/p>\n
