HISTORY<\/p>\n
The Confraternity Nuestro Padre Jes\u00fas Nazareno was founded in 1801 by the Third Franciscan Order of Penance, with the aim of elevating the Jumilla’s Easter of beginning of the 19th century; for that, they ordered an image for wearing of Nuestro Padre Jes\u00fas Nazareno to a disciple of Francisco Salzillo, Roque L\u00f3pez, for walking on the Good Friday’s morning and for remaining exhibited to the worship in the Convento de las Llagas de San Francisco.
\nIn 1936, and by consequence of the disasters caused by the Spanish Civil War, the image was partially destroyed, and it wouldn’t be until 1943 when the Valencian sculptor Ignacio Pinazo received the order of a new carving for dressing, a replacement of the ancient image by Roque L\u00f3pez, which is limited to face, hands and a foot, all it on a frame. This image of a popular great devotion, carries on its shoulders a heavy cross that holds with both hands, which provides realism and poignancy to the scene.
\nThe Confraternity, through the years, has suffered multiple changes, but the most important would happen in 1984, when a group of enthusiastic young men was in charge of it and it carried out projects until then unachievable (not without risks, mistakes and mishaps), elevating the artistic quality of our Confraternity to unsuspected levels, being the last of them the construction of the splendid Museum to which gives name our beloved main image.<\/p>\n
