Confraternity Nuestra Señora del Primer Dolor
HISTORICAL REVIEW
Created in 1985 as a section of the Group San Juan Apóstol y Jesús Resucitado for incorporating it in the procession of Holy Wednesday. In 1992 it passes to take part of the Brotherhood Primer Dolor.
CANONICAL HEADQUARTERS
Canonically erected in the Salvador’s Church.
ICONOGRAPHY
Jesús is invited to the house of Marta and María, when Marta served the dinner, María anointed the Christ’s feet with perfumes, drying them with her hairs.
AUTHOR
It is a work by the Cartagena’s sculptor Jesús Azcoytia from 1987, having in Cartagena another work with the same title, and in Alhama de Murcia, a San Pedro Arrepentido, from 1979.
THRONE
It is made in walnut with Solomon columns and medallions goldened with gold leaf. Illuminated with four candelabra of golden wood in its corners.
Tunic
White cotton tunic with cuffs in blue, with blue velvet hood and cape in the same colour with the Mary’s symbol embroidered in golden thread.
Standard
On maroon velvet, trimmed with double golden gallons, in the middle of a pitcher, the emblematic symbol of the paso inside of an also golden splendid gust.
