Brotherhood Santísimo Cristo de la Caída
In 2003 it is created the Brotherhood for taking part in the procession of the Holy Burial in Good Friday evening under the presidency of Mr. Juan Ochando Otazo, taking part for the first time in the processions in 2004. It is designated as first president of the Brotherhood Mr. Jaime Tomás Bleda. The image is lowered to Jumilla from the Santa Ana’s Monastery, in romeria, in the Holy Monday evening and it is deposited for its safe-keeping in the San Juan’s Church.
Canonically erected in the Santiago’s Main Church.
It represents the moment in which Jesús dies on the Cross.
The carving of crucifixed Christ is anonymous from the 16th century, of local property, existing in the small hermitage of Santa Ana del Monte, previous to the building of the Monastery by the franciscan friars. It is a carving with miraculous tradition, since it is said that while the friars were praying, it set free its right hand and gave three times its blessing to the community. It is an image very beloved and devoted by the Jumilla’s people. In 2003 it was restored in the Centro de Restauración de la Comunidad Autónoma de Verónicas.
It uses the same throne than the paso Santísimo Cristo de la Caída, but the Christ marchs with the cross leaned instead of vertically.
