Confraternity Jesús ante Herodes

HISTORICAL REVIEW
The Brotherhood is founded in 1985, being its president Mr. Moisés Buendía. It is ordered to Azcoytia, from Cartagena, a sculptoric group for the procession of Easter Wednesday night: ‘Nuestro Señor Jesucristo ante el Tetrarca Herodes’, paso that is finished in 1986 with the incorporation of a third image of a scrivener.
CANONICAL HEADQUARTER
Canonically erected in the Santiago’s Main Church.
ICONOGRAPHY
It represents the moment of the trial of Jesus before Herods.
AUHOR
It is a work by the Cartagena’s religious images maker Jesús Azcoytia in 1985.
THRONE
The throne is composed by a upholstered small basket with a brocade in golden and maroon tones. Under the small basket it is observed a base re-covered of golden aluminium and a finished moulding with small golden applications. It carries on the four corners several lanterns from the house of Mr. Pedro Potenciano from Toledo. The throne was made under the artistic direction of Mr. José Tévar García from Jumilla.

Tunic
Of white whool with vertical buttons that adheres to body with golden-colour cord. Green velvet cape with Confraternity emblem embroider in gold and hood on the same colour with fringe of small golden tubes.

Standard
It is a magnificent composition of pieces embroider in gold and fine gemstone, overlapped on a wide braid of gold, all over red velvet. The middle image is a bust of Christ prisoner, splendid piece embroiders in nuanced threads, on the Christ’s head appears a set of silver crowns. A design by the Jumilla’s artist Mr. José Tévar García.
