Confraternity Nuestra Señora del Primer Dolor

HISTORICAL REVIEW
In 1960 the Brotherhood San Juan Apóstol acquires the image La Virgen Gloriosa, in collaboration with the pigeon-breeding society, founding this Brotherhood which commonly is known as the ‘Hermandad de los Palomistas’, being named president Mr. Antonio Ripoll Marín, for presiding the recently created Procession of the Resurrected. In the beginnings of the 90’s the Brotherhood passes to take part of the Confraternity El Primer Dolor.
CANONICAL HEADQUARTERS
Canonically erected in the Salvador’s Church.
DISTINGUISHED INSIGNIAS
Crown: in golden metal from 1965, a present by the daughters of Mr. Jacobo González Atienza.
Cape: embroidered on blue velvet with golden thread and gemstones.
ICONOGRAPHY
It represents the moment in which the Lord’s Mother, in her splendour of happiness and satisfaction because of the resurrection of her Son, she brings her hands to heart.
AUTHOR
It is a work by the Murcian carver José Lozano Roca (1899-1972), author of countless works in our Region. He studies in the Economy Fine Arts School, he was a disciple of Anastasio Martínez with who he worked until 1940. He was a learning mate of José Planes Peñalver.
THRONE
The Virgen goes on a small basket of silvery silversmithing, under a canopy of blue velvet. It carries the Mary’s logo embroidered in the middle.

Tunic
Of white cotton with cuffs and sash in blue velvet, cape and hood also in blue velvet. In the cape, it shows off the emblematic Confraternity’s shield.

Standard
embroidered in gold and silver on blue velvet, in the middle there is an oval embroidered with the Mary’s logo. Made in the workshop of Isidora Navarro from Jumilla in 1995.
